Assignment 2- Researcher

Topic: Using Technology to Teach Science in the Classroom

In this assignment we were asked to pick an educational topic. We were asked to find resources that might be used when learning this particular topic. The resources range from books, movie/podcast, conference paper, website and a journal article. I chose to pick the topic science because I believe that  students find science interesting in some way.  

We then had to find these five resources using different search engines. I have listed below the different search engines I used and added a little bit of information for those that have never used them before. All of them are extremely good for those wanting to expand their research.

Google: A number of people already use google already and have found it very helpful. Google is a great way to find websites on particular topics. I found it very useful when researching my topic and got a number of reliable results.

Murdoch Library Website: The Murdoch University Library has a number of fantastic resources. The 'Findit' tool is very useful has it finds useful sources on any given topic. This is some more information about Findit in the link for those that are interested.

Youtube: Youtube is a video sharing site that allows its users to view and upload videos. It is a great resource to find information about any topic and can be very helpful for those that are more visual learners.

Google Scholar: This search engine allows you to broadly search for information on a particular topic. Sources such as  articles, theses, books, abstracts and court opinions, from academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories, universities and other web sites can all be found using Google Scholar.

Endnote

Endnote is used for creating bibliographies and managing references on your personal computer. It is a fantastic took especially for students as it avoids students from plagiarising other people's work. With Endnote some search engines can automatically put the reference details into your endnote library. If not then you can do it manually which is extremely easy. Endnote allows you to insert citations into your work easily with one button or you can have a whole bibliography produced automatically with all your references noted correctly. For this assignment i will be using the APA 6th Edition to reference my work.
